I consider our society's relationship to masculinity and masculine energy to be the leading cause of what many regard to be the crises of the day.
I see these crises as sacred suffering, sacred experience. I'm not saying anything is wrong, I know its value,
AND
I also hear the plea of these experiencers.
"Where is there nourishment for me?"
"Where is it safe to have the power I never asked for?"
"How can I belong so society, how can I be good enough to receive love?"
The men are asking in so many ways.
The feminine righteously withholds from them, awaiting better behavior.
Who can blame us?
And yet
we are withholding from ourselves far more than we can ever withhold from men, because women and men and all adults are compilations of both energies.
Our failures in relationship to masculinity can never be confined only to men.
They also infect our relationship to money, business, routine, structure, systems, and most hurtfully, ourselves.
When we resent men, when we make sport of mocking them, when we are incredulous at their ignorance, we are divesting heart energy from the masculine. Like speaking to a child about the flaws of his father, the wound hits home within us, within our own masculine.
Our own masculine may dip out, an absent father, leaving us chaotic and perpetually confused.
He may puff up and bluster about our business, scuffing relational potential with gruff protective layers.
He may weaken, become doubtful and uncertain, seeking answers outside of us in fits of worthlessness, unable to make decisions, but convinced decisions are the only way.
Only through loving and devoting to him, this inner masculine, as the feminine, making it safe for ourselves to BE him, can we begin to claim stability, gracious and vulnerable relationships, and connections girded by fierce discernment.
